Block Comments in a Shell Script

In bash:

#!/bin/bash
echo before comment
: <<'END'
bla bla
blurfl
END
echo after comment

The ' and ' around the END delimiter are important, otherwise things inside the block like for example $(command) will be parsed and executed.
