pdflatex not found. pdflatex is needed for pdf output
sudo apt install texlive-latex-base seems to install pdflatex.
pdflatex
could not start the command pdflatex – synctex=1 -interaction=nonstopmode %.tex error
I found this question on another forum and it says that you should install MiKTex for windows too. Worked like a charm !

Instead of forcing an underfull box with \newline, you could simply leave an empty line to start a new paragraph:
