I found the answer. Problem was I was retrieving those setting option values outside the if statement if(isset($_POST[‘formvalue’])){ } and using them inside it. For that reason values were actually not pulled from database.
on the plugin activation hook, instead of doing everything right there just set a cron job that will do it.
Can I use a hook other than ‘init’ to handle form submissions?

I changed the master function to: function master() { updates(); remove_core_updates(); hide_plugins($plugins); nstrm_remove_admin_submenus(); } Now it works. Is this the right way to to it?
