you’re requesting index.php which I guess it’s the homepage; if I call for example is_category() trough your ajax from the category page I’ll get false because the function is being ran on the homepage. Use $_SERVER[“REQUEST_URI”] instead (don’t forget to sanitize it) you’re hooking your handler on the init action, which I think runs before … Read more
All of database querying is handled by global $wpdb object. So when you load WP core you have acess to it and all its methods for queries.
First: Use, for options(), the Settings API (tutorial). Second: Take a look at the core function and the available filters. Then take a look at the available filters: $sorted_menu_items = apply_filters( ‘wp_nav_menu_objects’, $sorted_menu_items, $args ); $items = apply_filters( ‘wp_nav_menu_items’, $items, $args ); $items = apply_filters( “wp_nav_menu_{$menu->slug}_items”, $items, $args );

Have you tried using the plugin linked from one of the answers? This answer specifically. The plugin recommended os called Visual Biography Editor. Apparently it works with the latest version of WordPress and it’s a plugin, so it means no editing any files to enable it.
Try function wpse46583_save($post_id,$post) { // verify this is not an auto save routine. if ( defined(‘DOING_AUTOSAVE’) && DOING_AUTOSAVE ) return; //You should check nonces and permissions here if ( !current_user_can( ‘edit_page’, $post_id ) return; //Get category slugs associated with post $cats =get_the_category($post_id); if(empty($cats)){ //No category assigned – do something here. } return; } add_action(‘save_post’,’wpse46583_save’,10,2);
These functions are already accessible if you use the rewrite API. When your file is parsed WordPress has loaded already, so do not include core files a second time.
