How to activate virtualenv in Linux?

Here is my workflow after creating a folder and cd‘ing into it:

$ virtualenv venv --distribute
New python executable in venv/bin/python
Installing distribute.........done.
Installing pip................done.
$ source venv/bin/activate
(venv)$ python
