Please see Template Hierarchy in Codex to determine which template would be fitting to precisely target what you want modified. You might need to create such template and add to theme. Alternative would be to use Conditional Tags to control output of additional markup.

Simple: Add ?_embed to the url query string. Eg: /wp-json/wp/v2/posts?_embed=true (_embed will work too ) You will then find a property within each post in the JSON called _embedded which will contain all the info you need for Featured Image. Also your taxonomies/categories/tags etc.

It’s easy and possible. all you need to do is export your content from wp.com (wp-admin/tools/export) and import it to your new website (wp-admin/tools/import). That should be all, I would also suggest that you purchase https://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/ so if a visitor goes to mywebsite.wordpress.com, they get redirected to mywebsite.com
