Just write a function that checks if permalinks are on by checking whether get_option( ‘permalink_structure’ ) is empty or false and generates the appropriate link given the $id. Something along the lines of the get_permalink() function which either looks at the $post global or looks at the $id passed into it.
I figured out what the problem was. In the end, I added &noheader=true to my form action. This allowed me to submit my own headers without calling the WP admin headers.

I figured it out – I did not have the data type declaration for user_id so it never created the table. I changed it and it worked 🙂

I would create a custom animal post type. For the thumbnail, use the featured image metabox. For the text fields, create a custom metabox, and store the data as part of the posts meta.

You can only do this by “loading content into all the posts in the blog” asynchronously (in the background). So, move the processing inside a function that you hook on wp_ajax_your_action_tag.
