$post_attachment->post_author will return user ID. You need to fetch user details from user ID. get_userdata( $userid );

javascript datatables in a plugin
there were a few issues. my table element wasn’t closed. datatables needs thead and tbody elements. wordpress uses jquery.noconflict so i had to change my javascript file. i took out the $ and replaced it with jQuery: http://api.jquery.com/jQuery.noConflict/
