If you want to get post custom meta for the page assigned as the site front page, use get_option( ‘page_on_front’ ), which will return that page’s ID. i.e. change this: get_post_meta(get_the_ID(), ‘_custom_css’, true) …to this: get_post_meta( get_option( ‘page_on_front’ ), ‘_custom_css’, true ) …on the site front page (is_front_page())
Yup, @s_ha_dum hit the nail on the head. The theme calls the function in a few places. Removing all of those function calls should fix any fatal errors you’re having. MySQL Engine vs. Charset
Well, after looking at the other tables I had created successfully, only difference was the description column. Apparently WordPress or MySQL doesn’t like that as a column name and somehow has it reserved. So, after renaming it, the table was created fine. Hope this helps someone else in the same boat.
